Wireless SM is a start-up wireless
information service that is seeking angel
investment. We believe that there is a
significant revenue opportunity that will
generate significant wireless subscription
revenue from the 132 million U.S. cellular
subscribers. By teaming up with a well known
Japanese culinary celebrity spokeperson to
provide credibility for our service and further
leverage his notariety to help create
partnerships with U.S. wireless carriers, we
believe we have the right combination of a
compelling wireless information service, the
right positioning to partner with the carriers
and a business that will generate significant
revenue. All
of the major wireless carriers are investing
billions of dollars (AT&T Wireless alone is
spending $5.3B) in infrastructure and advertising
for a 2002-2003 launch of a US version of NTT
DoCoMo Japans phenomenally successful iMode
cellular content service. Wireless information
services like Wasabi Wireless will partner with
US carriers as paid content providers within
their cellular content offerings.
Wasabi Wireless
provides the Wasabi Guide SM, a
cellular entertainment information service
providing on-the-go mobile subscribers with a
Japanese insiders recommendations and
reviews for New York Citys best sushi
restaurants and sake bars, special offers
(through digital phone coupons) and promotions
with Japanese beer companies, Japanese event
listings, Movie-goer Marketing TM,
games, contests and more.
We believe by
leveraging our celebrity spokesperson's
popularity as the official Wasabi Insider TM
to recommend, highlight, and review the best of
Japan in New York City we will:
- Attract all
the U.S. wireless carriers who are
looking for compelling, paid wireless
content offerings
- Motivate
the wireless carriers to spend ad dollars
to promote this service to their
subscribers
- Drive
cellular subscribers familiar with our
celebrity spokesperson to sign up for the
Wasabi Guide through their wireless
carrier
- Generate
significant revenue for this venture
through wireless subscriptions
- Create
viral marketing of our celebrity
spokesperson's trusted recommendations
and through his rating system
- Create
opportunities for ad sales (e.g.
Sapporo/Asahi/Kirin Beer, AOL Moviefone
"Sushi and a Movie")
- Develop
digital phone coupon sales (e.g. special
offers for sushi restaurant and sake
bars)
- Create
opportunities for venture diversification
such as elite private sake tasting events
The Wasabi
Wireless team consists of experienced business
development, sales management, product
development and wireless application development
personnel who have worked together in the past.
Our founder has spent nine years with Asahi
Chemical as the North American Sales &
Marketing Manager and has lived in Japan. The
Board of Advisors comprises industry experts
active in corporate management, content
licensing, and wireless information technology.
As of July 2002,
NTT DoCoMo Japan had 28m iMode subscribers and
$37B in revenue. Content providers receive a 90%
share of data revenue for subscribers who access
their channel/service. US carriers plan to share
subscription revenue at 40-90%, plus a portion of
per minute charges. The revenue potential for US
content providers is substantial since the US
cellular market is 60% larger.
Wasabi Wireless
is seeking angel round equity capital to develop,
launch, and market a first and second generation
service for launch on the major U.S. wireless
carriers. This capital will enable Wasabi
Wireless to be first to market, leveraging our
celebrity spokesperson's popularity, obtain
significant launch revenue, use wireless
carriers advertising dollars to promote the
Wasabi Guide, and help the wireless carriers
create the U.S. wireless information market.
